Hello guys, you are welcome once again here. I hope you're doing well today. In today's lesson we will be talking about a professional software engineer (Jawed Karim) who is based in America. I'm really sure you've heard his name before but don't really know him.
Jawed Karim is an American software engineer and internet entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of YouTube and he was the first person to upload a video to the site (YouTube). The title of the video he first uploaded on YouTube site's: "Me at the zoo", it was uploaded on 23rd April, 2005. And it has been viewed over 287 million times as of October 7, 2023.
Jawed Karim was born in Merseburg which is located in the Eastern part of Germany. His mother is a German and his father is a Bangladeshi, The family of Karim emigrated to the United States in 1992. He graduated from Central High School in Saint Paul (Minnesota). And then he attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied computer science. He left the university early to work at a company called: PayPal.
PayPal is a payment platform with a website and a phone app that enables payments between parties through online money transfers. Working in the company (PayPal), he met his fellow YouTube co-founders Steven Chen and Chad Hurley.
Karim, Steven and Chad come together and planned to bring up a video-sharing platform called "YouTube" in the year of 2005.
Jawed Karim left PayPal in the year of 2005 to focus on the video-sharing platform (YouTube). The site quickly became popular, and was acquired by Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion. He remained and worked with YouTube for some short period of time after the acquisition, but he left YouTube in 2008 to pursue other interests.

After Jawed Karim left YouTube in 2008 he partnered and invested in a lot of companies.
Currently he is a co-founder and partner at Y Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage startups technology companies. He is also a venture partner at Sequoia Capital.
Karim is also a member of the board of directors of several companies, including 6sense and Udacity. He has also invested in a number of successful startups, including Airbnb, Reddit, Postmates, Eventbrite, and HEO Robotics.
In addition to Karim's work as an investor, He is also a mentor to entrepreneurs and a speaker on topics related to technology and business. He is a member of the PayPal Mafia, a group of former PayPal founders and employees who have gone on to found and lead some of the most successful tech companies in the world.
Karim graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Stanford University. He is also a recipient of the Grainger College of Engineering Department of Computer Science's Young Alumni Achievement Award.
Overall, Jawed Karim is a highly successful entrepreneur, investor, and mentor. He is one of the co-founders of YouTube, one of the most popular and influential websites in the world. He is also a successful investor in early-stage technology companies in the world.

Karim is a relatively private person, and does not give many interviews. He has said that he is proud of his role in creating YouTube (the video-sharing platform), but that he is more interested in the future of the internet than in the past.

He has an estimated net worth of $310 million and he's also the co-founder of YouTube and also the first person to upload a video on YouTube as it's explain above. How Much Did Jawed Karim Got From The $1.65 Billion When They Sold YouTube.
After they sold the video-sharing platform to Google for $1.65 billion dollars, Jawed Karim received 137,443 shares of the stock at that time, which was worth around $64 million at that time based on the day the deal closed. And the rest was shared among the other YouTube co-founders (Steve Chen and Chad Hurley) in the year of 2006.
